It was a familiar road,
I walked down it everyday.
There was a familiar face,
And I saw it every day.
In the grey ragged clothes
And with a smudged face,
There she was-lost in her thoughts-
Thinking of the happiness and grace
Her young life had lost.
I always found a coin
To flip into her outstretched arm
On her face, there never was a sign of a grateful response
Till dusk she sat there-
Glued to the place and never moved.
After the day I met the Lord,
He inspired me to reach out,
Instead of a coin, I gave her
A hug, a smile and some love.
It was just a reflection of what
I had received-Just a grateful response.
Pressing some notes in her hand,
I told her to run home as it was
Too cold to even stand.
My eyes spoke louder than my mouth
Obediently she went.
My heart leapt with joy,
And my eyes in tears were wet.
She turned to me and smiled right back,
I didn’t need words to understand.
I looked into her thankful, tearful eyes,
They had the sparkle of sunrise-
It was just a grateful response…..
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. I John 3:18(KJV)
