Mathew 2:1, 2, 9 and 10
“WE HAVE SEEN HIS STAR” – Mathew 2 :2
We are stars in His right hand (Rev 1:16) We should also shine as lights in the world.
1. The star- Preaching is all about Christ
The ‘star of Jesus’ led the wise men to Christ. Similarly we can lead men to Christ if we are Christ’s own star . Every beam in the star must shine for Jesus. “I live for Jesus day after day”.
2. The true star- Preaching leads to Christ
The ‘star of Jesus’ moved in the direction where the ‘Holy child Jesus’ was. You must move in the direction of Christ. The chief Priests at Jerusalem could tell where Christ was born but they never went to worship Him. Do not try to lead men into a religion but to the person and He is ‘Christ the Lord’
3. The ‘star of Jesus’ stopped where Jesus was.
The ‘star of Jesus went before the wise men and stood still over the place where the young child was. There are many stars which lead men beyond Jesus. “God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord” I cor 2:2. All that is beyond truth is a lie. Abide in Him. In the Tabernacle of Old, there is nothing beyond the Holy of Holies. Similarly there is nothing beyond Christ worth a thought.
4. There is no news about the star after the wise men met Jesus.
The ‘star of Jesus’ disappears from the scene after the wise men met Jesus. Your duty is to point people to Christ. After that you are not important. The wisemen practically used the teaching of the star. After seeing Jesus, they see the ‘star’ no longer. The ‘star’ is gone. It did its work and passed away.
Glory to God in the Highest!
